There are 3 rules to the game:
1) Every month one person picks the places to dine.
2) No one in the group could have eaten there before.
3) Everyone splits the bill.

-MAY-
May was my turn to choose our dining spots and, admittedly, I didn’t make the strongest picks this time around.
We headed north to start the evening at Poor Richard’s in Wexford, a casual neighborhood bar and grill serving classic bar fare.

I ordered a Captain and Diet, while Rachael opted for a Grist House Champagne Sour. To kick things off, we shared a chicken quesadilla with salsa and sour cream ($9).

It was straightforward and satisfying, and the lively crowd, many of whom seemed like regulars, gave the place a comfortable, familiar feel.
Our next stop was Wexford Public, a polished American-style restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and an exceptionally friendly waitress.

I ordered the steak frites with chimichurri sauce, which was cooked perfectly and accompanied by a generous portion of crispy fries ($34).
Rachael chose the evening’s special: Chilean sea bass topped with onion straws, served over a bed of risotto and spring peas with a lemon sauce. While the fish itself was nicely cooked and beautifully presented, the dish didn’t fully come together. The sauce leaned surprisingly sweet, and the risotto with peas was just average, especially considering the higher price point.

For dessert, we shared the Peanut Butter Explosion. Unfortunately, the name set expectations that weren’t quite met. While it was decent, it lacked the indulgence and richness we had imagined, leaving us a bit underwhelmed as we wrapped up the meal.
Until next time, happy eating!
